Janaki Kund

This is a lovely stretch of water where it is believed that Sita Maa used to take her bath during her exile at Chitrakoot. Janaki kund poses extreme serenity and tranquility to the pilgrims coming here . Pilgrims visiting Chitrakoot seldom spare the chance to take a dip in Janaki Kund since they strongly believe that these waters are blessed.

Janki Kund is situated close to Pramod Van and at 2 km from Ramghat on the left bank of River Payaswini flowing at Chitrakoot in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is believed to be the bathing place of Seetha Matha the consort of Lord Sri Rama during the period of their exile.

Jankaki Kund is around three km from Ramghat, the main point of Chitrakoot Dham. It is not far away from Sphatik Shila. At this place on river Mandakini, Devi Sita used to take bath during the exile. Of course, the scenic beauty is praiseworthy. A very small temple of Sita's footprints is built here and devotees bow down.

On the Banks of Mandakini river, about 2 kilometers away from the famous Ram Ghat, this beautiful Janaki Kund (also known as Sita Kund) is situated. Lord Rama's wife- Sita Ji- used to bath here during the period of her exile. There is a rocks nearby which bears the foot prints of Sita ji.

One has to cross narrow pathway lined with houses on both sides.. but ultimately it opens up in a very beautiful picturesque scene. In winters, a mild gentle river flowing without any human intervention bushes growing around.
