This is the place where Lord Rama stayed in exile for 12.5 years of 14 years of exile .Kamadgiri parbhat has circumference of 5 kms. The devotees used to go for parikrama and get the Darshan of Lord Kamadgiri Temple.

The original Chitrakuta situated over Kanadgiri hills , its said that lord Rama came here and spend some time.

The first destination was Lord Kamtanath temple and Pradakshina of Kamadgiri Mountain. Kamadgiri is the main holy place of Chitrakoot Dham . The Sanskrit word ‘Kamadgiri’ means the mountain which fulfills all the wishes and desires. The place is believed to have been the abode of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman during their exile.

It is well known to religious believers, doing it on full moon days is very auspicious.it is about 7 km walk one has to do by bare foot.prefer giripradakshanam in mornings only.

Chitrakoot is a spiritual spectacular space specifying the spots where Lord Rama, Seetha and Laxmana dwelled for eleven years in exile to spend fourteen years of prescription of his father learnt through his step mother Kaikeyi. It is a popular tourist dot of the day.

This place is more organised compared to others. Parking is proper and one has to walk bare foot inside the compound of the temple. If you opt to do parikrama which is about 5+ kms, do it early morning or after sun down. Doing parikrama bare foot is an experience in itself.

A forested hill of prime religious significance, this is believed to be the original Chitrakoot. The Bharat Milap Temple is located here. Pilgrims perform a ritual circumambulation of the hill to seek blessings.
